Who This Is For

This class is designed as a natural continuation of the introductory darkroom experience — though anyone with foundational darkroom knowledge is welcome to join. Over two Saturday mornings, you'll build precision in the darkroom: mastering contrast, rescuing difficult negatives, and making the leap to fiber-based paper.

Each three-hour session is hands-on from start to finish. You'll leave with prints you're proud of and the knowledge to replicate them.

What You'll Learn

  • In-Depth Contrast Filter Work

    • Understanding and using contrast filters with precision

    • Split-filter printing technique

    • Strategies for printing from under-exposed & over-exposed negatives

  • Advanced Dodging & Burning

    • Building on intro-level technique

    • Developing intuition for shadow and highlight control

  • Introduction to Fiber-Based Papers

    • Differences between RC and fiber-based papers

    • Proper development and handling techniques for fiber

    • What fiber paper makes possible for your printing practice

  • Hands-On Instruction - Two full 3-hour sessions of guided, practical darkroom work with direct instructor feedback.
