Franklin Foto is proud to be a stop on ADX Fest, a region-wide celebration of independent artists, designers, and makers happening throughout October across 50+ venues in the Portland area. As part of the festival, we're opening our doors for an afternoon of hands-on photography & alternatives processes, right here in historic St. Johns. No photo experience necessary!!

Photo Walk, Cyanotype & Polaroid Transfer

Come for one activity or stay the whole afternoon. No experience needed, and every kind of camera is welcome.

• Photo Walk through Historic St. Johns to Cathedral Park
  Sliding Scale: $0 to $30, pay what you can. Please reserve a spot, even at $0, so we can plan group sizes.
  Two walks, both starting at Franklin Foto:
  Walk 1: gather at 1:00 pm, head out at 1:15 pm
  Walk 2: gather at 2:45 pm, head out at 3:00 pm

We'll start with a short intro to what a photo walk is and make sure everyone's gear is sorted and ready. Then we'll stroll to beautiful Cathedral Park and through historic St. Johns, taking our time and taking photos along the way. Bring digital, film, point and shoot, or any camera you love. Gather small found materials like leaves, petals, and textures to use at the cyanotype station.

• Cyanotype Station | Drop in anytime, 1 to 5 pm
  Sliding Scale $10-$35
  Bring your finds and make unique cyan and white images. Lay your treasures on the paper, expose it to the light, and watch the print appear.

• Polaroid Transfer Station | Drop in anytime, 1 to 5 pm
  Sliding Scale $10-$35
  Choose any image on your phone and turn it into a Polaroid. Then transfer the emulsion onto a watercolor paper card. It makes a great gift or a piece to frame.

Choose What Works for You

We use a sliding scale so everyone can take part. Pick the amount that fits your budget. If you can give more, your extra helps someone else join. If money is tight, choose the lower end with no explanation needed. Everyone gets the same experience.

Wear comfortable shoes, since the walk includes an uphill stretch on the way back.
Beginners welcome.
